The front of the Vanceboro school, overlooking the river, built in 1925. Boys and girls lined up, using separate entrances. This is perhaps the second, maybe the third Vanceboro school. Jean Crandlemire Hogan remembers seeing a long, black chalkboard on a south wall in the large room at the north end of the Timber Village Building (on the west side of High Street at the intersection of Third Street and High Street). There may also have been a school on the north side of Route 6, at Kelly’s Corner where the road to Walker’s Cove (Brook) leaves Route 6.

The back of the Vanceboro school. The Knights of Pythias Hall is to the left, across Third Street. The hall was used for community events as well as school dances and basketball games.
