Board member Gene MacDonald has generously donated his small railroad museum and its contents, along with the railroad signal and “put-put” railcar currently displayed beside the building, to the Vanceboro Historical Society. The town has given us permission to relocate the building, signal and railcar to an area adjacent to the current museum. Our goal is to raise funds to renovate the building as a three season museum space that will house an interactive railroad display.
Renovating the building will entail interior and exterior repair and reconstruction, electrical installation, and ensuring accessibility. We are currently fundraising for this project and welcome any support.
Our goal is to share the unique and historically important history of the transcontinental railroad and the role Vanceboro, as the U.S. point of entry, played. Below is a photo gallery of the building and artifacts in their current locations, as well as the railroad display in our museum, constructed with artifacts Gene has now donated to the VHS.

The current railroad display uses VHS museum photos with various select artifacts from the MacDonald collection. The new building will offer a great deal more exhibit space to share maps, additional artifacts and their stories, historical documents and the history of the Vanceboro station and yard.
